Awards demonstrate sales achievement, client focus and quality at the fore

Last month saw the 7th Broadley Speaking Annual Awards for Sales Excellence. The awards, colloquially known as the ‘Hilda’s’, are highly regarded by team members and focus on sales results (both for individuals and teams) and competition is tough!

Contenders have to demonstrate outstanding sales results achieved on behalf of clients over a prolonged period of time and a dedication to going above and beyond the call of duty on behalf of clients.

Sales Team of the Year 2009 – Eurocell
Alison Bartlett, Isabel Robson,
Pat Bryant and Julie Credicott

Eurocell is the UK’s market-leading manufacturer and distributor of quality pvc-u profiles for upvc windows, upvc doors, upvc conservatories, upvc fascias, upvc soffits, upvc guttering and rain water systems.

Their precision-manufactured products provide a complete one-stop-shop solution for housebuilders specifying new build projects, local authorities and social housing landlords refurbishing housing stocks or homeowners wanting to add value to their properties.

Their products are supplied to thousands of window and door fabricators, installers, builders and roofing contractors across the UK. Eurocell is part of the Tessenderlo Group, a multi-billion-pound global plastics and chemicals group.

The team’s work over the year has simply been fantastic; demonstrating flexibility, determination and consistency, hitting sales target month on month. Over the year the team has sold products and services to just about every segment of Eurocell’s target customers and has worked on multiple product sectors across the Eurocell range. Using the Broadley Speaking unscripted ‘Intelligent Sales’ approach this has meant getting to grips with multiple products and clearly differentiated audiences quickly and effectively. The campaigns have been targeted at a range of audiences from small independent building contractors to the largest local authorities, requiring a flexible balance of sensitivity and assertiveness from the team.

Hilary Broadley, making the award, commented: “Eurocell are a great company to work with but with their position as one of Europe’s largest corporations they demand success and the ability to measure it. The team, working hand in hand with the Eurocell marketing team, has consistently responded to this need and they are standard bearers for Broadley Speaking’s attitude, knowledge and sales skills.”

Account Manger of the Year 2009 – Prego*
Jenny Aveyard

Jenny has worked at Broadley Speaking for over 9 years now and is a fairly typical example of the background and standard of team members that make up the Broadley Speaking crew. She is a mature, self confident individual who has held
senior marketing roles in major UK businesses.
She is a very thoughtful and considered sales person capable of selling at the very highest level to the most senior individuals in organisations of all sizes. She has an abundance of well honed sales skills and an innate understanding of the creative process and revels in campaigns selling creative services.

Prego* are one of the UK’s best known marketing agencies. It was set up just as Broadley Speaking was – as the agency we’d want to work with if we were the client. It’s an agency that never tries to pull the wool over its clients’ eyes and one that offers inspired, creative and fantastic service as a matter of course. Delivering the biggest return on investment is never far from their minds and they make it fun for their clients along the way. This mutuality of culture is obviously one big reason they chose Broadley Speaking in the first instance. Jenny’s work since early 2007 has fully endorsed that decision, she’s an integral part of the Prego* team and month after month she delivers fully qualified sales appointments for their account team with senior marketing professionals in major UK corporations.

Becky Scott, Client Services Director from Prego commented: “Our initial interest in Broadley Speaking was raised by their claim of using a completely unique approach to selling remotely.  Like everything, it sounded great, but would it work for us?  As a creative agency we understand that many clients buy into people and creativity; and cold selling such a subjective service, through a third party, over the phone, is something we were not sure would succeed.  However, we knew that it was worth a try…if only to discount it as a new business tool.

From our first meeting with Broadley Speaking we knew they simply ‘got us’ – our people, our approach, our culture and our difference. They have exceeded all our sales expectations – we are thrilled that our work is being discussed on a daily basis with key players in the marketing world.”

Forthcoming Data Issue Special

In the next edition we focus on the back room team in the data department. Damon Didcott, our chief ‘data wrangler’, won the annual ‘Commitment to the Cause’ award. From prepping customer data to building bespoke niche databases for client’s campaigns, his hand eye coordination and the ability to spot a rogue bit of data could be considered a thing of beauty!

Weather Watch

With the worst snow and freezing conditions in just about living memory in the South West of England the early part of January proved very interesting indeed. Hours lost were minimized by the dedication of the team making it into the office, some from remote parts of Dartmoor but there was a fantastic unexpected bonus:

Broadley Speaking Account Manager said: “Obviously there was a ‘white out’ across most parts of the UK and significant numbers of people who couldn’t make it into work had to work from home. Actually this worked in our favour in lots of cases – there were fewer people in meetings and there was a real empathy from those people who like us had managed to work on and they were more than happy to talk. I made some cracking appointments for clients – but not for that week! “
