A week in the life of the Tavistock-based Directors of Broadley Speaking (aka David Conn and Hilary Broadley – with Isabel Robson manning the fort in the Stamford office) is normally a jam-packed, diverse, nation-wide affair: there are internal meetings and training, incoming prospect calls to field, and client rendez-vous from St. Austell to Edinburgh.
Meanwhile, a Directors’ weekend reveals the people behind the business. Last week, the weekend started in spirit (sadly not in reality) on Wednesday night, with childrens’ degree celebrations in the buzzing metropolis of Tavistock town centre. Thursday night saw the Directors at the local Open Mic Night, where Nuala, one of our own Account Managers, brings the house down each month as lead singer of the house band. Saturday brings DIY attempts and a reunion with old friends, and on Sunday the Directors began the day of ‘rest’ with an early-morning gig-rowing session for David, and continued in agitated support of one Andy Murray – with Hilary’s secret past as Sue Barker’s would-be protegee manifesting itself in very vocal ‘encouragement’ to the players on court.
All this, AND the continuing giddy exploration of the new Director gadget, the iPad. Original ABBA recordings never sounded so good!
